Abstract	A dinâmica socioespacial das cidades pequenas constitui importante objeto de estudo para a Geografia Urbana. Nesse sentido, esse trabalho objetiva apresentar o perfil urbano de tres cidades pequenas do Rio Grande do Norte: Nova Cruz, Montanhas e Lagoa d’Anta. Para isso, analisa-se o quadro economico e suas especificidades, com enfase nas atividades terciarias, ligadas aos empreendimentos comerciais e aos servicos desenvolvidos em seus territorios. Essa realidade funcional urbana tem gerado relacoes entre essas cidades, a partir da dinâmica economica e da capacidade produtiva da qual elas fazem parte. Dessa forma, devem ser entendidas como elementos integrantes do sistema capitalista, no qual predominam singularidades que se expressam atraves das estruturas economicas, politicas, sociais e de suas inter-relacoes espaciais. Abstract PROFILE, RELATIONS AND NEEDS: A BRIEF ANALYSIS ABOUT SMALL CITIES The dynamic sociospatial of the small cities constitutes important study object for the Urban Geography. Accordingly, that work objectifies to present the Urban Profile of three small cities from Rio Grande do Norte: Nova Cruz, Montanhas and Lagoa d’Anta. For this, analyzes the economic picture and its specificities, with emphasis in the tertiary activities, linked to the commercial enterprises and the services developed in its territories. That urban functional reality has been generating relationships among those towns, starting from the economic dynamics and of the productive capacity of the which they are part. So, they should be understood as integral elements of the capitalist system, where they prevail singularities that they are expressed through the economic structures, politics, social and of its space interrelations.
