| Abstract | Wireless Mesh Networking (WMN) is a promising candidate for the next generation networks. Nevertheless, existing cutting edge technological standards for WMNs are not perfectly equipped to cater for supporting the new emerging multicast based instant communication applications that require gateway routing management. Existing solutions offered for providing multicast in WMNs have severe restrictions in terms of a number of performance metrics. Thus, in this paper, we propose a new multicast algorithm, namely, Multicast Gateway Centralized Multi-hop Routing algorithm (MGCMR) to facilitate the instant/real time communication applications. The MGCMR is the first that matches between the requirements of instant applications and the capability of gateway based management in WMNs. Our experiments confirm the superiority of our proposed MGCMR against its counterparts. |
