Abstract	Development of transport infrastructure doesn’t keep up with increasing number of vehicles .Using of public roads by numerous cars causes a decrease of traffic velocity. Important factor, that determine this velocity are external conditions such as the weather ones. This article presents a study of influence of external conditions on traffic velocity on a short motorway section as well as on the streets. Results of the study show, that weather conditions, especially rainor snowfalls significantly reduces traffic velocity. Significant influence of street traffic volume on vehicle average velocity and idle time was observed. Higher traffic volume during rush hours a working day causes average velocity reduction of about 25% and over 50% idle time increase in comparison with a holiday.
