| Abstract | This article describes an extracurricular strategy to motivate undergraduate students in the health area to the study of human anatomy. In a science fair held in the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, we developed a study to evaluate the level of participants' knowledge of infectious diseases, using a stand of cadaveric and synthetic anatomical pieces in order to attract the public. The research team was composed of two coordinators and five undergraduate students who were responsible for clarifying doubts about the theme. They applied a semi-structured questionnaire, which enabled them to assess the level of the visitors' information. The aim of the study was to analyze the students' perception about this extracurricular activity. This experience provided an opportunity for the students to act as educators in non-formal events, encouraging them to use more dynamic teaching practices. We believe that this extracurricular activity contributed to meaningful learning and, consequently, to professional maturity.
