| Abstract | Piela aurifirous quartz veins are associated with a large shear zone in volcano-sedimentary birimian (Ihnver Protem- zorc) formations. Gold evidence has also been found in lateritic materials although the underlying rocks and in situ saprolites are barren. Gold distribution in the digerent planation surfaces shows a mechanical concentmtion in the broken stones and gravels layers of the alluvial flat and in some parts ofthe medium pediment system which compond to an ancient terrace. On the other parts of indurated surfaces (high and medium pediment systems). either gold is absent or gold contents are low. Morphological and chemical characteristics of gold particles evolve from the minemlized zone to the alluvial flat and in the removed pediment materials. This evolution includes an increase of blunted fonns, specific mark of tmnsport (striation, turning up of the rims. flattened forms) and leaching of Ag up to the center of pmkles. In the su ficial materials of Piela zone, gold particles present digerent abmsion grades and do not show a progressive evo- lution with size decrease and leaching of Ag. as ofren described in indurated weathering profiles on minemlized bedrock. |
