| Abstract | The Cerrado soils are acid with low levels of nutrients like sulphur (S), being necessary to apply that nutrient to grow crops. The effects of sulphur fertilization in an Oxisol, were evaluated for corn under conventional tillage (disk plowing and harrowing) and no-tillage planting systems. The results showed a significant increase in corn grain production due to the effect of S level. Gypsum and powder Elemental Sulphur had similar effects as a source of S. The best yields were obtained with 30 kg ha-1 to 45 kg ha-1 of S as Gypsum. There was a direct relation between corn production and leaf concentration of sulphur. The band applied Sulphur moved down quickly in the soil profile and accumulated mainly at the 40 cm-60 cm soil layer. |
