Abstract	Downgrading – in the sense of a failure to recognize skills and qualifications obtained abroad at their true value- has multiple repercussions for immigrant workers who arrive in Spain with academic qualifications or previous work experience. Some choose to retrain as so to avoid falling into the trap of unqualified work. There is no shortage of providers of retraining, but their resources are not suited to these new workers.
