| Abstract | Synthesis of zi nc ox ide (ZnO) varistors using sol-gel (SG) route is reported here. Multi component oxides . perovskites and spinels have been used as dopants in various mole percentages. Nonlinear coeffic ients for the three types of dopants are of the order 25 , 35 and 18, respectively. SEM characteri zati on of the sampl es prepared by SG route indicates a change in the grain-size 01' the order 4-30 11m with respect to the sintering temperature 10001200 0c. Similarly, pero\,sk ite and spinel dopants show a variation in the grai n-size of the varistors as charac teri stic of temperature. Also , there is an improvement in the bulk density at lower sintering temperatures for the powders prepared by SG route. |
