| Abstract | The socialization model with two dimensions —Involvement / Implication and Strictness / Supervision— and four typologies —authoritative, indulgent, authoritarian and negligent— have the same structure in the Spanish and Brazilian cultures. It has been found that Brazilian mothers use more both, Involvement / Implication and Strictness / Supervision, than Spanish mothers. The use of both typologies has similar effects in the two cultures. In general, children from indulgent families get the best self-concept and adjustment. These results are not coincident with those of the Anglo-Saxon cultures.
