| Abstract | Title: Characterization of performing percutaneous tracheostomy in the intensive care unit of the Hospital Universitario Clinica San Rafael in the period between 2010 to 2013.Descripcion : Introduction : Nowadays percutaneous tracheostomy performed in the ICU is the approach of choice for critically ill patients . The technique of Ciaglia Blue Rhino is the modality of percutaneous dilation tracheotomy most widespread worldwide and which has the best safety profile. In the Clinic University Hospital San Rafael , this technique of percutaneous tracheostomy has been implemented for several years , but has not been characterized the experience you have with doing this . Objective: To characterize the performance of percutaneous tracheostomy in patients of the intensive care unit at the Hospital Universitario Clinica San Rafael in the period between 2010 to 2013. Methodology: A retrospective cohort study of cross , in which all patients who were performed tracheotomy in the intensive care unit at the Hospital Universitario Clinica San Rafael in the period between the years 2010 study was conduct - 2013 . Patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit to which percutaneous tracheostomy was performed are included , excluding those who are performing the extra institutional procedures and emergency procedures performed by other services.
