| Abstract | Different training systems were applied to 'Niagara Rosada' grapevine aiming to compare the differences in microclimate, yield and bunch quality. The grapevines were grown in the experimental farm of the Instituto Agronomico at Jundiai, Sao Paulo State, Brazil. The 'Niagara Rosada' vines were grafted on IAC-766 rootstock and spaced by 2x1m. Two training systems were evaluated: unilateral single cordon with three vertical catch wires and double parallel cordon with sloped catch wires. Measurements of transmitted solar radiation, air and bunch temperature were taken during 2005 and evaluations of: yield, leaf area index, total soluble solids and bunch weight were done during the 2004/05 and 2005/06 growing seasons. The double cordon training system showed higher values of yield, number of bunches, bunch weight and leaf area index when compared to the single cordon training system. During the analyzed period the double cordon training system showed yield values 75% higher than the single cordon. The transmitted solar radiation at harvest was lower for the double cordon training system. It was not observed statistical differences in bunch temperature and total soluble solids for the training systems. |
