Abstract	From understanding the term “social housing” as a kind of spontaneous construction, with no layout or being part of an urban construction, in this paper we try to introduce the topic of house living and energetic efficiency in projects of popular housing and its well planned opponent: the social housing “SH”. Towards to it we’ll analyze energetic performance of the used materials and its impact on the environment. We start from the proposal of popular housing represent a building alternative more efficient, economical and benign from the environmental point of view, in regards to institutional social housing buildings in Barranquilla; as which, it has been greatly corroborated thanks to the results obtained with the procedures [Ide@s CONCYTEG 7 (88): Octubre, 2012] ISSN: 2007-2716 Habitabilidad y eficiencia energética en conjuntos habitacionales de vivienda de interés social en México, Colombia, España y Chile Caso de estudio Ciudadela “Adelita de Char”, Barranquilla – Colombia 1194 applied such as: computer simulation of energy consumption for the comfort living and the introductory and approximately application of the “life cycle analysis” of a popular housing. Habitat means the location or the physical space where its build from and for the social dimension, which will be habitable if the interaction between its elements imply an articulation and organization of the physicalspace aspects with the social. Therefore it is proposed to have a tool to allow evaluate and propose improvements in the living design on energetic efficiency for social housing in Barranquilla.
