Abstract	Resumo: Tematizando a relacao entre o pesquisador e o campo de pesquisa numa perspectiva qualitativa que envolve a objetividade cientitica e a necessaria empatia para a abordagem etnografica, este artigo exprime um percurso metodologico que tomou como ponto de partida um contexto de mobilidade urbana e pobreza num bairro da periferia da cidade de Fortaleza-Ceara-Brasil. Para realizacao da investigacao, foram realizadas muitas observacoes in loco que resultaram em registros visuais por meio de fotografias, registro das falas dos moradores com suporte em conversas informais, historias de vida, entrevistas; e, ainda, descricao do lugar e das relacoes por meio de diarios de campo. O texto narra as dificuldades, impasses e aprendizados que os pesquisadores enfrentam para a compreensao dos fatos sociais. Palavras-chave : Etnografia; Mobilidade urbana; Pobreza. Researcher's life: the inquiry field as starting point to an ethnographic urban investigation Abstract: Thematizing the relation between the researcher and the inquiry field in a qualitative perspective that wraps the scientific objectivity and the necessary empathy for the etnographic approach. This article expresses the methodological course that took as starting point the inquiry field in a context of urban mobility and poverty at a peripheral district at the city of Fortaleza-Ceara-Brazil. For the fulfillment of the investigation, many observations 'in loco' were carried out, resulting in visual registers through photos, register of the words of residents with support in informal conversations, life stories, interviews and the description of the location and the relations throught field diaries. The text narrates the difficulties, impasses and learnings that the investigators face for the understanding of the social facts. Keywords: Ethnography; Urban mobility; Poverty.
