| Abstract | Mastitis is an inflammatory disease of the mammary gland of cattle and other mammalian species that represents the highest loss rate in milk production. Among the many bacteria that transmit this disease, Staphylococcus aureus is the most resistant and it develops contagious mastitis, which needs a greater degree of medicines for its control. Because mastitis is a disease that affects a noble product of the consumer, studies are important for treatment alternatives that leave the lowest level of contamination of residues in the consumed product. The use of products from plants extracts that grow in abundance in Brazilian soils, for the control of S. aureus is one of the points explored in biotechnology. This work aims to review the literature and investigate some plants such as Croton, Salvinia, Punica, Chlorea, Alpinia, Mimosa, Erythrina and Mentha that are tested as antimicrobials in the control of S. aureus of contagious mastitis in dairy cattle. |
