| Abstract | Governance in Higher Education Institutions IES -, constitutes the administrative and quality genesis in the evolution of educational institutions in global and international environments, which are increasingly competitive, organized and provided with a number of tools that Intensify quality models in search of educational excellence as a social commitment that enhances the activity that takes place there. In this sense, this article aims to analyze the progress of corporate governance in HEIs since Law 1188 of 2008, through which the qualified registry was regulated, until the formulation of Decree 1330 of 2019, which regulates the system of quality assurance of Higher Education and the principles of governance and governability, which allow responding to the quality requirements of higher education in a local, regional and global context; as well as the Agreement 02 of 2017 of the National Council of Higher Education CESU by means of which the Public Policy for the improvement of the government in the Institutions of Higher Education is established. Likewise, this article is structured based on a methodological design that focuses on a descriptive study that provides a good perception of the functioning of a phenomenon and the ways in which the factors or elements that compose it behave. Finally, it is concluded that governance is a necessary process that constitutes the backbone of a complex and functional system that requires being in constant motion to address a promising, profitable and successful future in HEIs. This aspect leads us to continue investigating how private and public universities develop their governance and governance processes. |
