Abstract	In this investigation compared the control charts R with fixed sampling intervals versus the control c harts R with variable sampling intervals was determined its effi ciency to detect signal out the control limits with small and large changes in the variance of a process. In stat istical process control is important detect early t hese signals to take action as soon as possible for locate the proc ess under control to avoid loss of product manufact uring outside specs. We also analyzed the behavior of the control charts R with variable sampling intervals by modif ying sampling areas amplitudes generated by using variab le sampling intervals. These areas are one of the m ost important differences between control charts R trad itional and the control charts under studied. The m odifications made to the sampling areas were analyzed to determi ne amplitudes most convenient to use in control cha rts R for early detection of signals out of control and reduc ed number of samples to signal. Favorable results w ere obtained in the efficiency of control charts R with variable sampling intervals over control charts R with fixe d sampling intervals.
