Abstract	In the center of practices UPSE - Manglarato, is orientated to realize an economic study of the production of watermelon, which focuses in the production and commercialization in the different localities of the province of Santa Elena, providing a product with better characteristics organolepticas. In addition, innovative methods were established to improve the productivity in a hectare. In this project investigativo there is detailed current and true information of the productive, economic and commercial situation of the production of watermelon in the province of Holy Elena, the above mentioned process I it realize across a field study with surveys to several producers and merchants of the rural communities of the province. For the tabulation of the information it was appealed to the descriptive estadista by means of the distribution use of frequency and graphs. The offer has technical aspect of the study is to say everything relating to all the labors that they need for the production of watermelon, raw material, inputs, agricultural equipments. At the end of the analysis of the project there were evaluated the such financial indicators as: the total costs of production that reflect an amount of $ 2 630,04, the total income in dollars that were obtained in a hectare of watermelon and in addition the relation was established I benefit cost ($ 2,58), which determines that by every dollar invested in the culture is obtained ($ 1,58). It is necessary to highlight that across this project it will be contributed to the socioeconomic development of the locality, generating new opportunities for the farmers of the province of Santa Elena.
