| Abstract | This article studies possibilities and difficulties of doing interdisciplinary projects in Brazilian public schools, through an experiment developed in 2015 by PIBID scholarship holders from three different courses at Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú. The project, which was carried out at Luis Felipe Secondary School, in the city of Sobral, Ceará, aimed to discuss linguistic and cultural aspects of the Americanization process in the local community. The studies of Campani (2000); Evangelista, Colares, Ferreira (2009); Cordiolli (2002);and Bonato (2012) provided the theoretical support for this study, as they argue that basic education should be studentcentered and should be the place where new teaching practices are produced. As a result of the study, although we feel motivated to develop and carry on interdisciplinary projects, the degree of their effectiveness is still jeopardized due to the fragmented curriculum established at schools |
