| Abstract | The article deals with the problem of researching Buddhist literature, one of the important components of the Kalmyk written-literary tradition in the 20 th and early 21 st centuries. The article presents Buddhist literary sources kept in Kalmykia’s collections, most of which are monographs written by well-known Kalmyk Buddhist monks. The author also discusses the tradition of translating Buddhist literature from Tibetan into the Oirat, Kalmyk, and Russian languages begun by the outstanding 17 th -century philosopher Zaya-pandita Nam-mkha’ rgya-mtsho (1599–1662). |
