| Abstract | The present investigation was to evaluate the corrosion of carbon steel samples used in the beneficiation plant "Borja Paz". The material of which is constructed tanks are leaching gold FRANROMEC Mining Company. The corrosion rate of the steel in question was determined in two aggressive media, this is, Cyanide to 620-800 ppm and thiourea to 960-1240 ppm of concentration. A multichannel potentiostat was used and a three electrode electrochemical cell with which polarization curves were obtained Tafel, current-potential curves and open circuit. The corrosion rate was determined from the corrosion current obtained in different media in the above-mentioned Concentrations. Additionally the corrosion rate Vcorr was calculated by gravimetry or weight loss during exposure a month. The surface morphology of the samples subjected to the electrochemical trials was assessed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with dispersive analysis via X-ray (EDX). |
