| Abstract | This research is a classroom action research (CAR) which aims to improve the ability to talk by using talking stick in eighth grade 6 SMP Negeri 4 Denpasar and to find the steps appropriate in the application of talking stick methods to improve the ability to speak in class VIII 6 SMP Negeri 4 Denpasar. The data were obtained using methods of observation and test methods for observing their speaking ability. The collected data were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. Based on the results of the study, CAR is carried out in three cycles which indicates that the Talking Stick method can be used to enhance the ability to speak, it can be seen from the average results of students' speaking ability in initial reflectionwas 5,25 with nearly enough categories, the first cycle of 6,61 with enough categories.There were still weaknesses that occur in the learning process, the students still lack of confidence to speak out both during the discussions and when presenting the task in front of the class, the grounds fear of being wrong or did not dare to express opinions related to a given task. The solutions provided related weaknesses in the application of talking stick method is to create a pleasant learning atmosphere. The solution is based on an increase of 1,36%. In the second cycle, the average value of 7,75 is achieved with more than enough categories and an increase of 1,14%. In applying the talking stick method on the second cycle there are students who are less active in the learning process. Thus the weakness that occurs in each cycle can be answered well, so that the third cycle, the average value of 8,56 is achieved with an increase of 0,81%. |
