| Abstract | SUMMARY. The objective of this study is to show a case of unifaceted cervical luxation, an unusual lesion, and its treatment. Description of the case: a ten-year old male patient suffering from traumatic unifaceted luxation of cervical spine (C2-C3) without neurological lesion therefore, The patient was treated by a gradual skeletal traction through Gardner’s compass on Striker’s board during three days and up to 6 kg without achieving luxation reduction; therefore, he was subjected to a surgical management through anterior via with an interspine fixing. The patient recovered in a satisfactory way without presenting either complications or neurological alterations. Discussion: Clinical suspicion of this type of lesions is very important to carry out a proper patient management. In our background, these are very unusual lesions an at this age it must be taken into account the existence of a greater ligament elasticity, a poor paraspine muscle development and a good osseous plasticity, what allows us to apply diverse treatments, being the surgical treatment just the resource for irreducible cases in a conservative way. |
