| Abstract | he Geominero Museum houses a diverse group of historical rock and fossil collections. These collections come from the compilation and documentation activities carried out during the provincial geological cartographical works developed by the Commission for the Geological Map of Spain (predecessor institution of the current Geological Survey of Spain). The rock collection from Huesca province was mainly collected and inventoried under the supervision of D. Lucas Mallada y Pueyo between 1871 and 1878. A revision of the available original documentation (a catalogue included in the Huesca province report), stuck labels and the numeration printed on the rock fragments allowed to identify the historical samples (124 from a total of 528 belonging to the original rock collection). Stuck labels already described in previous articles have been identified, as well as new typologies. It has been possible to detect several reorganizations of the collection along the time and more than one author involved in its production. Finally, a catalogue showing all the new information and peculiarities has been created. |
