| Abstract | The furniture sector has shown progress in recent years, however, this result is a consequence of attention as the requirement of customers and the continuous improvement in the production process. Given this fact is realized that many companies start to perform frequent investments in the production process as the acquisition of new equipment and automation of existing equipment, focusing on scale and competitiveness gains. Automation, which is one of the focuses of this study can be understood as the replacement of human labor by machines and electronic equipment, making manual processes into automated. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of an investment in automation of a machine edge coladeira in a company in the furniture industry. Therefore, the research is framed in relation to approach as qualitative and quantitative, on the procedures, a literature, descriptive research and a case study, and as collection techniques and data analysis used the documentary research, observation and spreadsheet. It follows that the implementation of automation at the edge of splicer machine is feasible and represents a major breakthrough for the company, providing a 15.77% productivity gain per month, and 45% reduction in labor costs, increase of 15.78% in profitability and return on investment in 10 months and 14 days. |
