| Abstract | This study was conducted to identify the relationship between self-esteem and emotional intelligence among students in a public higher learning institution in Kuala Lumpur. The respondents were 100 college students randomly selected from six faculties in the university. The instruments used for the study were Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) and Self Rated Malaysian Emotional Intelligence Scale (SRMEIS). The findings show that there were significant relationship between self-esteem and emotional intelligence among university students. Additionally, the data showed that self-esteem among university students in this study was at medium level while the level of emotional intelligence was high. The results can be used as reference by students, counselors, lecturers, university management, and for further research |
