| Abstract | As the complexity of automotive powertrains increases it is becoming increasingly difficult for engineers to determine the optimum specification fo r the system. The proliferation of control systems a lso adds to the complexity of the task and increasingly simulation is being used to assist in the developme nt of new products. A model has been developed to enable component parameter studies and desktop calibration of driveability attributes using Dymola and Modelica. The model included the automatic translation of an existing, validated engine model from Simulink into Modelica using Simelica. The correlation process used is described and the results presented. In addition, a study of the effects of differing le vels of model complexity has been conducted to understand the trade-off between simulation accuracy and performance. |
