| Abstract | Thomson scattering has been used to measure the time resolved spectrum of ion wave decay products from two instabilities which can limit the growth of stimulated Raman scattering ~SRS!. This experiment detected ion wave decay products far above the thermal level and demonstrates that SRS produced Langmuir waves undergo the Langmuir decay instability in ignition relevant plasmas.
