| Abstract | Three source water of different organic matter character were treated by magnetic ion exchange resin(MIEX) using kinetic and multiple-loading testing designed to evaluate the removal efficiency of organic matter and how organic matter character affects MIEX treating efficiency. For water A,B and C,71.5%,81.5%,69.2% UV254 and 65.3%,50.4%,45.9% dissolve organic carbon(DOC) removals are obtained at optimal doses(10,10 and 5 mL/L for water A,B and C) and contact time of 15 min, respectively. The results indicate that MIEX resin can be loaded up to 1 500 bed volume(BV) or more without any saturation;depending on different organic matter characters, molecular mass(MW) distribution of organic matter can be applied to determine MIEX process parameters;when MIEX is applied to treat raw water,in which the majority of organic matters have low MW,MIEX dose required to increase BV without resin saturation is more than that determined by kinetic experiments. |
