| Abstract | Welding processes include local heat input and rapid changes in temperature, ranging from the room temperature to the melting temperature of materials that are welded. Under such conditions, there is a local expansion and contraction of material, which causes the appearance of stress and strain in the welded structure. To ensure a quality weld, and thus the safe operation and reliability of welded parts or structures, it is necessary to reduce residual stress and strain to a minimum, which can be achieved by proper selection of parameters and the welding procedure, filler metal and appropriate preparation for the weld. The paper presents some of the methods for reducing residual stress and strain during welding of high austenitic steel. |
