| Abstract | SIAAP is assessing the impact of the waste water treatment system of the Paris area on the quality of the river Seine. This study is based on the use of the modelling software ProSe (Programme Seine), developed by Mines Paristech school as part of the PIREN Seine research program. ProSe can simulate the impact of the anthropic pollutants discharges (WWTP, stormwater overflows...) on water quality, taking into account several biogeochemical processes occurring in the river waters. The software is presently used for prospecting studies which include operation choices as well as SIAAP’s investment program. Recently, as part of the study to update the drainage master plan (SDA), a new use of the modelling software has been developed by the teams of SIAAP in order to estimate the relative contribution of several types of discharges with regard to the pollutant concentration observed in a specific point of the river Seine downstream the Paris area. This integrated upstream/downstream approach, which includes the implementation of “deconstructed” simulations, enables the optimization of the master plan’s structures, in order to reach the European Framework Directive’s objectives. |
