| Abstract | A good building design should take into account the geographical characteristics, environmental conditions and local climate in which the building is constructed. One important factor that can affect the thermal comfort of buildings is the effect of ground thermal inertia and building materials. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of ground thermal inertia on indoor air temperature and thermal comfort of occupants. In the first part, the characteristics of building, the local climate characteristics and numerical modeling will be presented. The heat transfer between building and gound with three dimensional model approach is discussed in the next section. The result of numerical simulation using TRNSYS (R) shows that the ground thermal inertia significantly affects indoor air temperature and building thermal comfort. The ground with good thermal conductivity and thermal capacity can reduce the building thermal discomfort up to 21.9%. |
