| Abstract | The accelerating process of economic globalization and the integration of world economy have urged China to integrate into the global value chain. The integration not only brings advanced technology and accelerates China’s economic growth, but also brings great pressure on China’s energy consumption. This paper utilizes a panel data set of 38 segments of the industrial sector from the year 1995 to 2009 and sets up multi-variable models to analyze the effect of China’s integration into the global value chain. In this paper, outsourcing intensity and energy consumption per unit of added value in the industrial region are used as indicators of the extent of involving in the global value chain and energy consumption efficiency. Additionally, patent spending and capital to labor rate are used as the control variables. |
