| Abstract | In Peru, women play an important role in the economic development of the country. In 2010, the independent EAP were mostly women (37.2%). However, four out of 10 women have been victims of intimate partner violence, which could seriously affect their performance. Objective: To determine the levels of VAW that affect women entrepreneurs in Peru. Using a descriptive design based on secondary data from the Demographic and Health Survey National, a nationally representative sample of 3.909 women entrepreneurs was obtained. Results: In 2011, 32.93% of women were entrepreneurial. Two out of 10 women entrepreneurs are victims of intimate partner violence. More cases of violence were detected in Apurimac and Cusco, however, intense violence were detected in San Martin and Amazonas.Conclusion: The most common control situations that could affect women's entrepreneurship are insisting on knowing where she is (53.3%), jealous if she talks to another man (42.9%) and not trust her money (18.4%). Psychological and physical violence against women entrepreneurs, is more common in urban areas, but is more intense in the rural area. |
