| Abstract | Abstract : The U.S. Army has entered into a program of research related to automated command and control (C2) tools for ground combat vehicles. This program, called Combat Vehicle Command and Control (CVCC), has a bilateral component with the Ministry of Defense of Germany. The sponsor of this program is the Tank Automotive Command (TACOM). The U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences Fort Knox Field Unit is responsible for one of the five program teams. This report provides a brief description of the CVCC program from the perspective of user requirements and soldier-machine interface. It contains an overview of the potential problems in an automated C3 system from the operational perspective. Finally, it presents a sample of key issues that might be addressed through the use of soldier-in-the-loop simulation. |
