| Abstract | Evaluation of the hydromorphological quality of a mountain river according to the European Standard EN-14614 is presented in a case study of the Czarny Dunajec, Polish Carpathians. The article presents a methodology of the evaluation, reference hydromorphological conditions for this mountain river, results of the evaluation for 12 cross-sections with varying river morphology and channel management, and the variation in particular assessed categories along the study reach. Downstream variability in the degree of human impact exerted on the Czarny Dunajec over the past few decades is clearly reflected in the variation of hydromorphological quality of the river among the investigated cross-sections. This study shows that subjectivity inherent in expert opinions requires that the appraisal of hydromorphological status of watercourses be performed simultaneously by specialists in different disciplines. |
