| Abstract | Background : Lots of studies said that the single used of tapak dara and temulawak did not have toxic effects, but the combination should be studied. The side effects could be happen in liver as the place where a drug become detoxificated and metabolized. Besides, the use of combination could increase the interaction between them. Objective : To find out the effect of tapak dara and combination between tapak dara and temulawak on the C3H mice liver in macroscopic and microscopic. Method : This study is an experimental with design ‘post test only control group design’. 15 C3H mices were divided into three groups. The first group was inoculated by adenocarcinoma mammae(K), second group was inoculated by adenocarcinoma mammae and was given tapak dara(P1), and the third group was inoculated by adenocarcinoma mammae and was given combination of tapak dara and temukawak(P2). Treatment was given for a month. The termination was done on the last day, the liver was taken to be measured and scored histopatologically. Data were analized by One Way ANOVA test. Result : The study showed that there is significant difference of liver weight mean, with p=0,000. Outcome of One Way ANOVA test showed no significant differences between all groups in normally hepatocelluler (p=0,063), parenchymatous degeneration (p=0,051), hydropic degeneration (p=0,503) and fatty change of the liver (p=0,155) Conclusion : Administration of tapak dara(25 mg/ml) and the combination of tapak dara(19,5 mg/ml) and temulawak(10,4 mg/ml) showed significant difference in liver weight but not the histopathological appearance. Keywords : Tapak dara, temulawak combination, side effects, liver. |
