| Abstract | The beakers were covered and heated at approximately 90 °C for 20 minutes. Care was taken that the samples did not dry. A mixture of 10 mL concentrated HF, 3 mL concentrated HClO 4 and 2 mL concentrated HNO 3 was added to the samples and allowed to react overnight. The following morning the beakers were heated at approximately 90 °C for 2 hours. The PTFE covers were then removed and heated further until most of the acid had evaporated. Care was taken to ensure that the samples did not dry because it was found that if they did it was extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get them back into solution. |
