Abstract	Psychology appears in Jose Ingenieros' work around 1910 as a new discipline that tries to define its central concepts and that strives to prevail as a relevant social science. Criminology is also an emergent area, and the debate about the need of a reform of the 1887 argentine Penal Code turns this matter a must in the intellectual agenda. The present text analyzes how Ingenieros crosses both disciplines to study and propose answers to the social transformations and to the fear that the bourgeoisie expressed in view of the criminality increase.
