| Abstract | Our work proposes the approach on a very relevant topic in the current rural scenario in Brazil and in the world, which is sustainability. We developed this work in rural settlements that differ in them by the form of occupation, formation and modality, in the region of the north Amazonian Mato-grossense. In view of this, our objective was to construct a method to evaluate the sustainability of two rural settlements that differ in history, occupation and organization / modality. We call this didactic-pedagogical method of “Circles of Sustainability”. This method was constructed from five points: 1st circle of investigation of generating themes; 2nd circle of the history of the subject world; 3o circle of diagnosis of rural settlements; 4th circle of knowledge exchange; and 5th circle of sustainable perceptions and narratives.
