Abstract | Pushbroom Imaging Spectroscopy makes it possible to monitor chemical reactions within microfluidic devices in realtime with high spatial resolution. With the help of fiber optics, one can apply transmission or reflectance spectroscopy at several discrete positions in a microreactor simultaneously. This type of inline analysis allows monitoring the progress of reactions along microfluidic channels under systematic variation of process parameters to identify process optima. Moreover, kinetic data can be also derived from such measurements. As examples, we demonstrate the successful inline monitoring of mixing sensitive reactions such as azo coupling and Diels Alder reactions in microstructured glass reactors. |
