| Abstract | We propose approaches to artistic (non-photorealistic) rendering of functionally defined volumetric objects, namely gaseous object without clear boundaries. The function-based three-dimensional models are described in the HyperFun language. An outside model of a volumetric object (steam or smoke) is defined with a group of skeletal implicit surface primitives. Internal density is defined with the Noise or Turbulence functions. The volumetric object is converted into volume data. An artistic image is generated by volume ray-tracing using the density value obtained from the volume data. The proposed method makes it possible to create cartoon images and animations of gaseous objects. |
