| Abstract | The pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is among the most consumed and valued spices in the world cuisine, which has demanded studies that approach cultivation techniques to improve the quality of these fruits. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of different substrates on the physical and chemical characteristics of the fruits of the Tabasco pepper cultivar irrigated by drip irrigation. The experiment was conducted in protected environment, located on the campus of the State University of Goiás in Anápolis. The variables studied were: fruit diameter (DF), fruit mass (DM), total soluble solids (TSS), total titratable acidity (ATT) and hydrogenation potential (pH). Three treatments were used: T1 composed of ravine soil (40%) + sand (20%) + humus (40%); (20%) + humus (20%) + coconut fiber (20%) + bed of chicken (40%) and T3 soil of ravine (40%) + sand (20%) 10%) + pinus bark (10%). The soil, sand and fertilizers were sieved, later mixed and placed in pots of 8 liters, spaced 80 cm apart. Transplanting of the seedlings to the vases occurred 75 days after sowing in trays. A completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 7 replicates was used. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and the means were compared with the Tukey test at 5% probability. As results, it was observed that the studied variables were not influenced by the different substrates tested. |
