| Abstract | Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is one of the public health problems in the city of Pekanbaru. Seven of the existing 12 sub-districts in Pekanbaru are DHF endemic areas and Bukit Raya is one of the 7 sub-district which has the highest number of DHF cases with respectively case fatality rates of 1.44%, 0.0%, and 3.5% from the years of 2005, until 2007. These percentages exeed the national indicator which is only 1,0%. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between sosiodemografi (sex, education, occupation, mobilization), environment (home distance, home arrangement, humidity, water tank, water tank (not for the daily-used water), natural water tank, existance of mosquito larvae, and ornamental plant) with the incidents of DHF. This study is observational research with matchec case control design. The samples consist of 85 for case group and 85 for control group mached in sex, age and living place condition. Data analysis includes univariat, bivariat using Mc Nemar test and multivariate using conditional multiple logistic regression. The result of bivarate analysis shows that variables have a significant relationship with the incident of DHF namely education, occupation, home distance, water tank not for the daily – used water, natural water tank, and ornamental plants. Home arrangement and the existence of mosquito larvae do not have a relationship with the incident of DHF. The result of multivarite analysis shows that the variable which is very dominant related to the incident of DHF is mobilization. It is suggested to implement a proper socialization to avoid mosquito bite by using reppelent if going out of Bukit Raya Subdistrict Kota Pekanbaru to work, school etc. Intensively improve the promotion of DHF control and prevention program to the community, increase community participation in doing voluntary collective work once a week, and increase mosquito larvae survey activity. |
