Abstract	The project is based on the modernization of the control system of an STS container crane (ship to dock). The main reason for the improvements to be made is that the old system uses an obsolete communications protocol. It is desired to make a migration of the General Electric PLC from the crane to a Siemens PLC, to replace the decentralized periphery of General Electric by Siemens periphery modules, and to establish the PLC communication of the crane with the existing General Electric drives (DC Drives). A preliminary study and a simplified modeling of the different alternatives will be carried out and then the most appropriate option will be chosen, to finally present the final design of the structure.
