Abstract	Background:Orthodontictreatmentaims toimprovethe pattern ofdental archandcorrectionof malocclusionintoideal pattern. One of the thingsthat affectthe stability of teeth is the success ofmaintainingtheshape ofthe dental arch. Purpose: This study was aimed todeterminethe influence ofusing fixed orthodontic with SWLF bracket-type to the dental archwidthformalesand females childrenaged14 yearsinRSGMPProf.SoedomoFKGUGM. Methods: Subjects are 24 children aged 14 years who come to the Pedodontic clinic of RSGMP Prof Soedomo FKG UGM and SMP N 1 in Pakem, divided into 2 groups based on control and treatment groups as well as gender and meets the requirements of inclusion. Calculation of the size of the dental arch model of studies done on the mold by using calipers and a ruler based methods Arslan, et al (2007) before and after 1 year of treatment.Statistical analysis using the Test Paired t-test.Results: The result showed that the size of the dental arch width significantly different (p <0.05) in the inter canines, inter premolars and inter molar both the males and females children after being treated with a SWLF bracket-type for 1 year. Conclusion: the dental arch width increased significantly after 1 year using fixed orthodontic with bracket-type SWLF and males dental arch width larger than females after one year of using fixed orthodontic with SWLF bracket-type.
