| Abstract | Workflow based environments provide a useful approach to support adequate abstraction levels for scientists and engineers, and also allow flexibility in the mappings between the application abstractions and the lower layers of the underlying computing plataforms. In this brief introduction to this minisymposium we present a succint survey of open issues in this topic, all of them related to the need of promoting new generation of more flexible and dynamic workflow based development environments, that may ease the tasks of application development and the management of the life cycle of scientific experiments. |
