| Abstract | This study is conducted with the help of 58 students in our Social Sciences departement examined the relationship between student valuations of academic outcomes and the perceived likelihood of these within the framework of Expectancy Theory. Furthermore, students current motivation was gauged using a SIMS test developed in accordance to Self- determination theory. The above mentioned tests were performed with an structured survey administered on campus. Goals were combined with perceived likelihood to produce products for each overarching goal. The following goals were examined: Economic goals, Self- realizing goals, Social status related goals, Love and family related goals and Academic goals. Bivariate correlational analysis was performed to examine the relationship between the products and various instances of motivation. The results found that students were mostly motivated by self-realizing goals, in addition, to academic goals and the most salient types of motivation for these were intrinsic motivation and identified regulation. |
