| Abstract | The present study aimed at determined a regional geoaccumulation index (I geo) and enrichment factor (EF) in soils irrigated in the upper basin of the Lerma river, Mexico State. Fifty five soils samples were collected in five localities: Tlachaloya, Ixtlahuaca, Atlacomulco, Temascalcingo and Amealco. The chemical properties analyzed were pH, clay, organic matter, Cr, Ni, Zn, and Pb contents, I geo and FE. According to the ph and MO values the soils are excellent for agricultural use. The contents of heavy metals are lower than the permissible limits. The enrichment factor indicates that the Pb is a moderate contaminant having geological and anthropocentric origins. The I geo values show that Pb and Ni are the highest contaminants for the soil. |
