| Abstract | This work seeks, though the linear optimization and the use of the GAMS program, to identify optimal locations for the establishment of thermoelectric plants that can utilize the wood residues originated from sawmills in the state of Para. The technological process to be optimized involves the energetic densification of the biomass residues, through the pelletization, the biomass transportation to the thermoelectric plants, the energy utilization through the gasification or the direct combustion for the energy generation. The function to be optimized was the environmental cost and the fuel use for the biomass transport cost. Transportation costs between the densification and plants, costs of densification and environmental costs of carbon emission from both processes were calculated; they were also calculated the revenue generated by the electric energy sales and by the avoided carbon emissions. From the total of annual R$17.683.510,00 spent with the pelletization, 0,7% correspond to environmental costs; from R$14.690.896,00 spent with transportation, 1,2% were environmental costs. |
