| Abstract | Blanka BRZOZOWSKA University of Łodź Maubert-Mutualite’s way, or, in search of lost place This article discusses works of the French anthropologist Marc Auge in the context of his analyses of the Paris Metro and of Michel de Certeau’s work L’Invention du quotidien, with a parallel focus on the issue of place/non-place relations. On the one hand, this approach allows for showing space as one of the primary issues of research into our contemporary culture (with the notion of space encompassing problems such as mass tourism, transformations of culture of consumption or the functioning of today’s metropolises). On the other, the specificity of Marc Auge’s work (which sometimes crosses boundaries between science and literature) calls for a discussion about the form of contemporary cultural studies. |
